Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk has expressed the “deep unhappiness” of state MPs on the passing of Queen Elizabeth II as a part of a short sitting of state parliament.

In an announcement, to be shared with King Charles III by way of Queensland Governor Jeannette Younger, Palaszczuk thanked the late Queen for her “years of devoted service and responsibility” to the state and Commonwealth.

“[We] specific our deepest sympathy to your majesty and different members of the royal household for the loss they’ve sustained,” the Qld premier stated.

“We additionally lengthen our honest congratulations to your majesty in your ascension to the throne, and specific our needs that your reign is an extended and pleased one.”

After three scheduled sitting days have been initially postponed to mark the Queen’s loss of life, state parliament was recalled for a slimmed-down session this morning to go legal guidelines enabling subsequent Thursday’s one-off public vacation.
