Somas is among the hottest indian snack objects. We make it annually, however one way or the other i have never shared it to this point. Lastly i made it few days again and i’m up with the recipe.
Usually a somas spoon is used to chop off the surplus dough from the sides. However i misplaced mine and could not discover my spoon when i would like it. So i sealed the sides and created a twisted sample.
Components for Somas
- All Goal Flour / Maida – 1 cup
- Sooji / Rava / Semolina – 2 tblspn
- Salt a pinch
- Ghee or Oil – 3 tblspn
- Coconut – ½ cup
- Gram Dal / Pottu kadalai – ½ cup
- Sugar – ¾ cup
- Cardamom powder – ½ tsp

Methods to Make Somasi
- Take maida, sooji, oil, salt in a bowl and rub along with your fingers until it types coarse crumbs. Add water slowly and knead to a stiff dough. Put aside for 30 minutes.
- Now take gram dal, sugar, cardamom in a blender and powder finely.
- In a dry pan, toast coconut until it’s gentle golden. Take it in a bowl, add the gram dal powder and blend properly.
- Now divide the dough into small balls. Roll it thinly, spoon some filling within the middle and apply water everywhere in the sides. Now cowl it and seal the sides. You need to use a somas spoon to run everywhere in the edges to get even end.
- Warmth oil in a pan, drop somas on this and fry until golden and crispy. Drain and serve heat.
- Cool it down and retailer in a air tight container for upto per week.
